WHERE OUR HOTELS ARE

WHAT OUR HOTELS WERE

SOMEWHERE SPECIAL, SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT

Looking for boutique hotels, luxury hotels, hotels with spas? You'll find them all on this unique website - and all are hotels that stand out from the crowd. What makes them special is what makes them different: each has a past that's unique, a present that's packed with character, and an appeal that's every bit as individual as you are. That's why it's our pleasure to present these distinctive hotels.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

We are a totally independent website, wholly owned and operated by founder, and travel writer, Pat Richardson, and created to showcase hotels which were not originally hotels.
We are not part of a big conglomerate - or even a little one.
We don't offload unsold hotel rooms at bargain prices; we don't offer every available hotel in your chosen destination - and nor do we want to compete with websites which do either.
We don't 'pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap' - and we don't want to compete with websites which do that, either.
We want to help you find 'properties with a past', each of them individual, with its own unique history and authentic character.
If you're looking for a cookie-cutter concrete block with bedrooms, you won't find it here! What you will find is an ever-growing selection of really special places to stay. And wouldn't you rather?

WHAT WE DON'T DO

We don't take or make bookings for you - but we do provide direct email links to each hotel that we feature, so that you can book a stay right away - or make a no-obligation enquiry - if there something more you need to know before you go. Simply click the BOOK NOW or MAKE AN ENQUIRY button on any hotel's information page to proceed.

HOW IT WORKS

The hotels that we feature do not pay to be on the website – and that means we choose who appears, without prejudice. This exceptional selection of places to stay is our selection.

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW

+ Any booking you make is with the hotel and not with HTWN, so we cannot, and do not, deal with booking queries or cancellations.
+ Other than words and pictures supplied by the featured hotels, advertisers or sponsors, all material on the website is the copyright of HTWN, as is the PR diamond logo.
+The HTWN diamond logo is also the copyright of HTWN, and is a registered trademark.

FAQs

DO I HAVE TO BOOK A HOTEL ON THE WEBSITE TO QUALIFY FOR THE 10% DISCOUNT ON LOUNGE PASS VIP AIRPORT LOUNGES?

No - you don't. We want to make travelling a better experience for anyone who comes to our website, whether they book a hotel or not! But you do have to click a link on the website to get the discount, otherwise you won't be recognised by Lounge Pass as one of our members. And you're a member as soon as you visit our website - no fee, no obligation, no purchase necessary. Welcome!

DO I HAVE TO BOOK A HOTEL ON THE WEBSITE TO QUALIFY FOR THE 10% DISCOUNT ON THE BAGGAGEMAN?

Again, no - you don't. As with our discounted Lounge Passes, we want to make your travels more enjoyable - and nothing beats finding your bags awaiting you in your hotel room after a journey on which you haven't had to carry them! However, please note that this luggage transportation and delivery service is currently only available to UK-based customers. Be sure to click the link, found every page of the website, so that The Baggageman knows you are an HTWN member. Simply visiting thw website makes you a member - no fee, no obligation, no purchase necessary.

HAVE YOU STAYED AT EVERY HOTEL ON THE WEBSITE?

Not yet! The idea for HTWN came from my experience of staying at over 50 hotels, in many different countries, which had started life as something else - but when I came to set up the website I didn't want to limit your choices to the ones I knew best. I want to tell you about the many, many other 'properties with a past' that you can stay in. And I'm discovering new ones every day - so do sign up for our regular newsletters, then we can keep you up to date.

WHICH STAR-RATING SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

We quote the ratings which our hotels provide. In some cases, these will be local ratings. There is no common international standard. You may, however, be assured that the hotels we feature rank highly, by any standard.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHICH HOTEL I GO TO IF YOU DON'T MAKE MY BOOKING?

A copy of your 'Book a stay' or 'Make an enquiry' form comes to us automatically. That way, we know which hotels our members are interested in. We also welcome feedback, so after your stay, please let us know what you thought of the hotel.

CASTLES AND CONVENTS AND FACTORIES SOUND VERY LARGE - DOES THAT MEAN ALL YOUR HOTELS ARE?

Absolutely not! They come in all sizes. Castles and convents and factories do sound pretty sizeable - but we've one castle with 19 bedrooms, one with 27 and one with 29. If small's your style, have a look at these: Oak House No 1 in Tetbury has just four bedrooms, Beaumont House in Cape Town has five, The Fox Club in London has nine, as does Ynyshir Hall in Wales.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU ADD NEW HOTELS TO THE WEBSITE?

As often as we find them! And we find them very frequently - sometimes adding several in a single week. We are constantly seeking out suitable hotels, so the numbers are set to grow and grow. We look for new countries to add, too, so that you get a wider choice. We know that's what you want - so we want it, too. The best way to keep up with what's new on the website is to click the OUR NEWEST HOTELS link on the Home Page - this will take you straight to a list of the hotels that have most recently come on board.
