GOLDEN WELL HOTEL, Mala Strana, Prague

THE PAST:

The property was built at the end of the 16th century, originally as five separate buildings – one of which was a private residence of Holy Roman Emperor and Bohemian King, Rudolf II (1552-1612). Others were let to honoured guests of the court – most notably, the famous Danish nobleman and astronomer Tycho de Brahe (1546 – 1601).
After World War II, the buildings were turned into private apartments. The property was abandoned and almost destroyed during the communist regime in Prague. A major renovation was needed to bring back its beauty and charm for the re-opening, as a hotel, in 2000.

THE PRESENT:

Enjoying one of the best locations in the city - and spectacular views of the city - this intimate luxury boutique hotel is one of Prague’s best-kept secrets. With award-winning fine dining, exceptional service and attention given to every last detail, it offers a highly refined guest experience. In the summer months, this includes the privilege of using the Emperor's private entrance gate to the Royal Garden of Prague Castle.

THE PLACE FOR YOU?

Yes, if you want to stay in a unique heritage building, in the heart of this fabled city’s quaint Lesser Quarter – the Mala Strana - and close to Prague Castle, Lesser Town Square, St Nicholas Church and the Charles Bridge. Yes, if you appreciate being offered a welcome drink and refreshing mint towel upon arrival, and would like to find a warm, aromatic oils bath ready and waiting, at a time you specify – perhaps after a city tour with a private guide, which the hotel can also arrange for you. Yes if you like a hotel where such services as valet parking, a concierge, a DVD library, luggage unpacking and packing, evening turndown with good-night amenities, a pillow and bedding menu and complimentary shoeshine come as standard. Yes, if you would also a morning newspaper delivery, a wake-up call with tea or coffee served, from 7 am, with fresh baked pastries. Yes if you’d appreciate a laundry and dry-cleaning service (free-of-charge for children up to 3 years old). Yes, if you also want a fine-dining experience: the Golden Well’s Terasa U Zlaté Studně restaurant is one of the best in Prague. And yes, if you are looking for a very special and romantic wedding venue.

THE PROPERTY IN DETAIL:

RELAXING
The hotel has a Club lounge with complimentary refreshments, and there are various sitting areas throughout. In addition, there is a comfortable chill-out terrace, with garden views.

EATING & DRINKING:
The Restaurant Terasa U Zlaté Studně, on the fourth floor, has the view that will convince you that Prague is indeed the city of 100 spires. The interior - by Italian architects Lorenzo Carmelini and Katrin Herden – marries striking modernity to Renaissance-era richness with stunning effectiveness. And in summer, the outdoor terrace is a delightful venue for your meals – with heaters and blankets provided if needed. Award-winning Executive Chef Pavel Sapik, a member of the Czech national culinary team, gained experience in Austria, Italy, France, Singapore and Germany. A carefully selected wine list compliments his appetising menu and, together with excellent service, ensures a memorable dining experience. Please make your reservation when booking your stay.
Special menus, custom-made to your requirements, can be prepared for weddings or corporate events, with up to 40 guests accommodated in the interior section of the restaurant and 60 seated on the summer terrace. Please use the MAKE AN ENQUIRY button to request further details.
Guests may also like to dine at the nearby Coda Restaurant, in the Golden Well’s music-themed sister hotel, The Aria.
