DEAN COURT HOTEL, York

THE PAST:

Originally three separate houses, built in 1865 for the Clergy of the Minster, the Dean Court sits on the corner of Duncombe Place and Petergate – which was the main Roman road running through York.  High up in the brickwork of the side wall in Petergate, the sign of the crossed keys can be seen. Representing the keys to Heaven given to St. Peter, it endorses the building's link to the Minster – the full title of which is the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York.
Soon after World War I, the middle building was purchased and opened to paying guests. This property later expanded to include the two others and an adjoining medieval cottage, which had been a guest house in the 1930s.

THE PRESENT:

A restyling of the interior, between 2004 and 2007, won awards for contemporary design, and transformed the Dean Court into a boutique-style hotel - and undoubtedly the most prestigiously positioned in the city.

THE PLACE FOR YOU?

Choose the Dean Court if you want the best view in York, a convenient city-cente location, and an award-winning hotel overall.
