BEAUMONT HOUSE, Cape Town

THE PAST:

Beaumont House was built in the 1930s as a private residence. The present owners, Gill and Peter Deering, purchased it in 2001 and made it their home. In 2005, they began a major renovation and enlargement project, which included completely replanting the gardens. They opened as a boutique guest lodge in October 2006.

THE PRESENT:

Beaumont House offers guests a pleasing combination of sleek, contemporary design, luxurious suites, beautiful gardens and an inviting pool. It is located in a leafy suburb 10 minutes from the city centre, beneath the slopes of the magnificent Kirstenbosch Gardens.

THE PLACE FOR YOU?

This is an ideal address for the visitor to South Africa’s ‘Mother City’. What’s more, only your own mother could take better care of you than Gill and Peter! They who offer a first-rate personalised concierge service - drawing on Gill’s experience as a First Class Passenger Services Manager at British Airways – as well as all the comforts you could want, and will happily help in organising trips and tours to local attractions and others further afield.

THE PROPERTY IN DETAIL:

RELAXING
The lounge/library/bar puts sofas, books and music at guests’ disposal, and is a restful space to sit and unwind, watching the sun glint on the pool or the shadows flicker in the floodlit gardens after dark.

EATING & DRINKING
A gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the pool. Complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks are also included in guest rates. An ‘honesty bar’ system operates from late afternoon.

With such an excellent selection of restaurants within a 10-minute drive of the property, Beaumont House does not generally serve dinner – however, subject to advance booking, a chef can be brought in to cook to order. In addition, cold platters can be prepared for guests who want to eat lightly.

SLEEPING
The five suites - each of which sleeps two - are spacious, light and airy, and decorated with calm, neutral tones and understated elegance. All are air-conditioned and have under-floor heating.

There are two luxury suites. The Mountain Suite, on the first floor of the main house, faces Table Mountain. It has a king-size bed, and an en-suite bathroom with twin basins and a separate bath and walk-in shower. French doors open onto a large, private balcony with sun-loungers and table and chairs. The smaller Bay Suite, also on the first floor of the main house, has stunning views towards False Bay and the Kalk Bay mountains. There is an extra-long king-size bed, which can convert to twin beds. The bathroom has a single basin, with separate bath and walk-in shower.

There are three premier suites. The largest is the Beaumont Suite on the ground floor of the main house. It has a king-size bed and also a marble fireplace. The spacious bathroom features two extra-large basins, a double walk-in shower and an over-sized bath.

Both the Pool Suite and the Garden Suite are reached by a garden pathway directly from the secure parking area at the front of the house. These suites open directly onto the swimming pool, and each has its own private, covered patio with table and chairs – where guests may chose to take breakfast. Beds are extra-length king-size or twin; bathrooms feature two extra-large basins, double walk-in showers and separate, large bathtubs.
The price per suite per night is R3,100 (Normal Season); R3,300 (High Season). High Season is 20 Dec- 5 Jan, when a minimum 5-night stay applies.

Room rates are quoted in South African Rand, and inclusive of full gourmet breakfast, made to order; complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks and fully personalised concierge service. A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required to confirm a booking. Balance of accommodation cost is due no later than 30 days prior to arrival to ensure non-cancellation of the booking. For bookings within 30 days of arrival, the full accommodation cost is payable upon confirmation. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card
